In this section ‘we’ and/or ‘us’ relates to Grandpa’s Sweet Shop Limited. ‘You’ or the ‘Buyer’ is you, our wonderful customers.
We have taken a great deal of time to enter all the correct details of each sweet onto the pages and to include a photo or each – however please be aware photos are for illustrative purposes only. Most the time your sweets will arrive and look like the picture but from time to time manufacturers do change their packaging or if a particular manufacturers sweet is unavailable we may have sourced another (of equal quality of course!). If however you want to be sure the picture matches the sweet before you order then just drop us an email or call us and we’ll be happy to help.
We display product ingredients and allergens with our products which we have taken from the manufacturer packaging and are correct to the best of our knowledge. Your items will include ingredients information also when you receive your order to allow you to double check anything including the presence of allergens if required.
Due to the nature of the product and the use of a number of manufacturers we cannot guarantee any products to be free of nut traces.
We’ve kept this as easy as possible – all you have to do is enter how many you want and then add it to the basket.
For create your own jars and hampers there is a space for you to enter what contents you want – we have put in the description how many varieties we recommend for each option to help guide you.
Once you’re all shopped out then just click the checkout and follow the steps to confirm your order and payment details.
10% off when you spend £50 or more (GBP) applies to sweets only, it excludes P&P charges.
Please note some product prices may differ between those in store and online – any internet orders will be charged at the price shown on the website.
We use paypal for payments as this is a widely recognised and secure method – you do not need a paypal account to make payment (many people don’t realise this), you can just enter your card details as normal. The paypal system means this is secure but should you wish to look into this further all details can be found on their website.
You can choose to pay via cheque if you prefer. Please make your cheques payable to Grandpa’s Sweet Shop Limited (UK residents only) and please pop a cheque guarantee card number on the back. Then pop it in the post along with a copy of your order and shipping details and we’ll dispatch as soon as your payment has cleared.
Shipping and Handling
We work really hard to get your order out to you as quick as possible, we say we normally dispatch within 2-3 working days but sometimes it’s even quicker than this! Please note though at busy times this may stretch a couple more days however you have our complete assurance this will only be at very busy times. We aim to make sure you get your sweets as quickly as possible!
If an item is out of stock but we’re expecting it in the next few days we will contact you via email to check if you are happy to wait a couple of days extra so this can be included.
If your order is urgent we are here to help and will do so wherever we can – just contact us before ordering and as wherever possible we’ll dispatch straight away – with next day delivery if required.
Orders (not courier) are sent either via Royal Mail 1st Class (aims to be delivered within 1-2 working days) from dispatch or Royal Mail 2nd Class – this aims to be delivered within 3 working days from dispatch.
Orders in excess of 1.75kg or orders containing hampers, large jars or jumbo jars will be sent via courier – this should be delivered next day from dispatch*.
We are happy to ship orders internationally – however please contact us direct to gain a shipping price as this varies between countries.
Please note weekend and bank holidays do not count as working days.
Should your delivery not arrive please contact us and we will try and track it for you – please note however Royal Mail stipulate that only items still not delivered after 15 working days can be officially classified as lost.
*These delivery time frames refer to mainland UK only and may take longer for those outside of the mainland.
Cancelling an order
We will dispatch your item(s) once full payment has been received and cleared at which point the contract is made and cannot be cancelled. We will confirm your order has been dispatched via the email address you provide at the checkout.
A contract is not formed at the point in time that payment has been taken from you, nor at the point in time that you receive an email from us acknowledging receipt of your order. Until the goods are dispatched the order may not be accepted by Grandpa’s Sweet Shop Ltd or may be cancelled by you.
Exceptions apply to orders for create your own items which cannot be cancelled by you once you have received email confirmation that your order has been received, as such items and goods may already be in production as a result of your order.
Please note once an item has been dispatched we are unable to change the delivery address. Please therefore ensure all your details are correct before completing the checkout.
Orders delivered by courier may be left with a neighbour or in a safe place unless you instruct us otherwise.
Orders over £50 will require a signature – please ensure you are at the address to sign or provide an address (e.g. work address) where a signature will be able to be obtained.
Delays due to adverse weather conditions, postal strikes, acts of god, or terrorism are beyond our control and as such we do not guarantee delivery by a certain date due to the nature of these acts, nor are we liable for costs incurred due to delay.
We try to ensure we constantly have your favourites in stock however from time to time we may be out of a particular sweet. If this is due to a shortage from the supplier/manufacturer where possible we will try and source a sweet of the same type and quality and send this. If the sweet forms part of a selection or assortment we will substitute it with a suitable alternative or put extra of the others.
If we are waiting for a sweet and expect it within a couple of days of your order we will contact you via email to see if you are happy to wait for it to enter our possession and then send it out to you straight away. If it is out of stock and not expected shortly we will let you know to change or refund.
Some of our items may be available for you to order in bulk i.e in the outer as we purchase them – these will be being added to the site but if there is an item you would like to ask about buying like this please email us and we will try to help.
10% Off Offer
The offer of 10% off when you order £50 or more applies to sweets only – it does not include post and packaging costs.
This discount will be applied at the checkout for you.
We will do our up most to ensure that your order arrives with you in good order as soon as is physically possible. If however for any reason you are not completely satisfied then please notify us within 7 days of receipt of the goods and return the product in its original packaging with a copy of your original order and covering letter as to why you have returned it.
We can only refund food products if they are unopened in their original wrappers. Damaged products must be returned before a refund can be made. We do require photographic proof of damage before the item is returned. Please do not accept a delivery if it is damaged in transit. We will not be held liable for damage caused due to atmospheric conditions while the goods are in transit. (E.g. chocolate melting.)
Goods returned to us by post must be sent via a signed for delivery. We cannot except any responsibility for goods returned to us that are lost in transit.
We want to make sure your sweets reach you in the best condition and are suitably packaged, therefore the following items have a minimum postage cost (costs may increase if you order additional items but will be calculated at checkout):
Small or Medium Jars / Gift Boxes / Boxed items: £2.99
Hampers / Large Jars/ Jumbo Jars: £5.99 (courier)
Please note if you are not in mainland UK, Highlands and Islands, Scilly Isles and the Isle of Man postage may vary – this will be calculated at the checkout.
We are happy to ship internationally – we are working this onto our website however if you wold like to place an order for international delivery in the meantime please contact us via email and we will be happy to quote on individual basis with current shipping rates.
